Sourcing part for old Sora Brifters

I’m renovating an old Giant TCR for a friend and was wondering if anyone knows any sites where one can obtain replacement parts for old groupsets? The plastic cover over the RH gear change indicator is missing; I’ll put a photo in the comments of the part I mean and the intact LH brifter. As it’s 9sp and indexed I’m guessing it must be Sora 3500 circa 2012. Any advice on possible sources for replacement would be very gratefully received, thank you.

PS I have access to a 3D printer if anyone knows places with templates for printing such parts…

Thank you very much, she’s planning to use it as an example piece with her classes I think but if it doesn’t work out I’ll certainly bear that kind offer in mind!

I enjoy playing around with 3d design so if your wife has no luck with this let me know and I could have a go. I’m just a beginner and it looks like a difficult shape but will enjoy the challenge.

    Crikey, £15 postage for

Crikey, £15 postage for something weighing about 15g? Still, shows it can be done! Can’t find any STL files online but Mrs H has the capacity to design parts as well as print them in her workshop at school so if I ask very nicely…if it works I’ll put the file up online for other people to use.

    Oh well, that’s a shame… 3D

Oh well, that’s a shame… 3D printing has been done before, see here

You’ll just need to find an STL file for similar as the ready made one from the US, once postage has been considered, is getting on for halfway towards the price of a new lever.

    SJS have replied with

SJS have replied with commendable swiftness but unfortunately to say that they don’t have it and it can’t be ordered as Shimano no longer make them. Looks like 3D printing is going to be necessary…

    Correction: my mistake, that

Correction: my mistake, that’s the left-hand one, the right-hand one is similar but with different writing:

    Thanks, it’s definitely 3500

Thanks, it’s definitely 3500 like the one below. Lots of sites have it listed but all are marked out of stock (excepting one US site that wants $65 for it!). I’ll try dropping them a line to see if they can source one for me, cheers.

    My go-to places for Shimano

My go-to places for Shimano parts are SJS and Woolly Hat Shop.

If the one you have there is R3000, the LH one is at Woolly Hat Shop.

    Edit to add

the RH one at SJS, my initial thought was well founded

    https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/gear-spares/shimano-sora-slr3000-indicator-unit-right-y06j98010/

In fact, SJS have the other parts and exploded diagram listed on that item under associated parts.

If it’s not R3000, identify it on si.shimano.com and get the part numbers, chances are SJS or WHS will have it in stock or on order.
