    Those looking for an integrated rear light/camera will have noted that the CR1 was discontinued last year after some favourable reviews…but it did look a bit clunky by current standards. The good news is that the replacement is now on presale, shipping 1st March. Discounted price of £94.95 includes shipping.

    The website has the basic info but I couldn’t see a weight quoted. Battery life looks to be very reasonable, probably up 6 hours of normal use.

    I’ve ordered one and will update once rxd.

    I don’t know whether or not it’s relevant here but there are a lot of fake sd cards out there. I got some that worked fine in a computer and looked ok but crashed my drift cameras at seemingly random times. The seller was convinced that they were genuine but for me it was lesson learned. On further inspection there were tiny differences between them and the (presumably) genuine ones I had but you had to look very closely.

    Unfortunately I too had problems with the Techalogic camera – worked well for a week then started to turn itself off despite being fully charged. The unit was sent back once and reportedly repaired which didn’t fix the issue. After being told it was my SD card and trying to sell me one of their identical ones I was refunded and bought a Chilli-Tech instead was has had no problems yet.

    The review of the Techalogic on here was very good so perhaps we’ve just been unlucky.

    No image stabilisation but clear enough for me. Number plates are readable, even at night.

    Just to close this one off, I
    Just to close this one off, I ended up having to return the unit, at my expense I should add. The customer service team quickly agreed that it was knackered and that water ingress was the most likely scenario (no surprise to me, the MicroSD card had beads of water on it when it was removed prior to sending back and pressing any buttons caused a dribble of water out). I had the option of a refund or I could wait whilst the unit went back to China for an investigation…so I chose the refund and got the money in my account within an hour (albeit without the additional postage covered).

    Back to the drawing board for me.

    Well I’m afraid it’s not
    Well I’m afraid it’s not going well. I used the camera yesterday on roads that were predominantly dry but with the odd wet stretch. The weather itself was dry, sunny but chilly first. The camera, which was fully charged, lasted less than an hour and then died. Is still dead and does not charge. It looks like a bad water ingress issue, despite it not raining at any point, so just road splash.
    I shall be testing the customer service aspect now…

    Ok, camera arrived and my
    Ok, camera arrived and my first impressions are quite positive. Looks to be a good step forward from the CR1.
    Interestingly, Amazon lists exactly the same product made by SUNGOOYUE, so this looks like a rebadge job…prices are similar though.

    Setup was fairly easy, the recommended app (Viidure) works well. Weight is about 100g, power connection via USB-C and it secures using a ‘Garmin’ 1/4 turn lock. I have tried it a few times and the footage is fine, it’s a bit bumpy (no smoothing like the Cycliq although that’s 3 times the price). It certainly captures the basics and the pulse light works really well. In use, it gives about 6 hours with pulse BUT make sure you disable wifi after startup. I would have thought the default was the other way around but there you go. Leaving wifi on the duration drops by about an hour so it’s still fine for most rides I do. There is also a warning when low so the light can then be switched off.

    Looks to be a good vfm option, only 1 week in though…
