Cyclist dead after collision with HGV in Staffordshire

A cyclist has died following a collision with an HGV on the A500 in Staffordshire this morning.

The as-yet-unidentified man was assisted by a student paramedic after the crash, which happened just before 5.35am on the northbound carriageway between the Porthill and Kidsgrove junctions

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived they found a student first year paramedic providing care to the man.

“Unfortunately, the man had suffered very significant injuries.

Another cyclist killed in London - and again, a lorry is involved

A 26-year-old female cyclist has been killed following a collision with a lorry in Central London on Friday evening.

The fatal incident took place at around 9.20pm at Vernon Place, WC1, a matter of yards from the junction where cyclist Francis Golding was involved in a collision with a coach in November 2013. Mr Golding later died of his injuries.

The London Air Ambulance attended the incident yesterday evening at the junction with Bloomsbury Square, but the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tipper truck involved in another London cyclist fatality

A male cyclist has died in London this afternon following a collision with a tipper truck. The incident took place at around 4.20pm in Homerton High Street.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed to that officers had attended the incident alongside members of the London Ambulance Service, with the victim pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their investigation.

Video: Cyclist in China has very lucky escape after lorry runs him over

A cyclist in China had an incredibly lucky escape when he was run over by a truck in Ningbo, a coastal city just south of Shanghai.

Footage from CCTV cameras shows the cyclist riding up the inside of the lorry as it turns right, the driver evidently unaware of his presence.

Despite being run over by the truck, the cyclist gets up afterwards, apparently unscathed.

Witness appeal after Yorkshire cyclist dies following HGV collision

North Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist who lost a leg following a collision with a lorry on Saturday died in hospital.

The crash took place at around 8.45 on Saturday morning near Eggborough at a roundabout at the junction of the M62 and A19.

The victim was a 49-year-old man from near Goole, dressed in black and red cycling kit and riding a Specialized bike, and had a black and red rucksack.

London cyclist killed in collision with lorry at Elephant & Castle

A male cyclist has been killed in London this afternoon following a collision with a lorry at the Elephant & Castle roundabout.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said they were called to the incident, at the junction with Newington Butts, at 4.05pm.

They said that the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance treated the rider, but he died at the scene.

The statement added that police are awaiting formal identification and details of next of kin, and that no arrests have been made to date.
