Abus

The Abus Metronaut stirs conflicting emotions in me. Styled to look like a baseball cap and compliment the street wardrobe, I grew attached to ours very quickly. However, at this point the world-weary, caffeine dependant journalist proclaims it's little more than an in-mould construction piss-pot skate lid peppered with twenty-three pet-box type ventilation holes and dressed in a washable nylon cover.

Measuring just 21x12cm, the Abus Granit Futura Mini is small enough to fit in the pocket of your jeans and strong enough to beat most thieves. It's light, too, and under 700g, and not too pricey either.

You'll probably know Abus as the German lock-meisters but the Dryve is part of their march into the world of bags and helmets.

The Dryve seems to be designed with the British cyclist in mind, made as it is from waterproof sturdy and durable 1000D Kodra, with waterproof seams, waterproof external zips and with a drawstring baffle over the main compartment to further keep the elements from the cargo, although the last feature can get in the way of swift contents access.
