Video: Heart in mouth stuff as Vittorio Brumotti takes on the Grand Canyon

Italian trials ace jumps around on a road bike again ... and there's no get-out if it goes wrong...

From Danny MacAskill to Chris Akrigg, we've reported on a lot of videos here on road.cc that feature riders pushing themselves - and their bikes - beyond the limits of what should be possible.

But, it's no exaggeration to say that the one who time and time again leaves us with our hearts in our mouths is the Italian former UCI Trials champion - and high school IT teacher - Vittorio Brumotti.

Some videos are done with smoke and mirrors (and risk assessments, and suchlike).

But Brumotti's scare the living daylights out of us.

Not one to try at home. Should your home happen to be on top of the Grand Canyon.

Nor if it's near a bridge in Utah for that matter.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.

Brumotti = Fred Dibnah's Italian love child

I doubt he would do it without a helmet, I wish someone could ask him the question though. I asked a close friend if he'd have gone as fast on a descent and into a corner he didn't know when in Spain if he wasn't wearing a helmet, he said no, of course not ... shame he wasn't wearing a helmet then as he came off at too fast a speed to get round the corner and crashed knackering his knee!

Oh, Bejeezus.

Clearly not human, as he shows no evidence of the mammalian cliff response (or should that be mammilian?)

Don Simon's emoji said it best!!

Can't help thinking that wearing a helmet shows a failure to grasp the nature of the problem......

He failed to look over his shoulder before jumping of the rail at the end of his bridge crossing. Bit risky, isn't it?

Well, that's the end of the disk brake -v- rim brake argument, then.

This is almost a bit too mental. I stopped watching.

Superb skills and seemingly no fear. Feel somewhat guilty for watching for fear it will encourage an overly ambitious stunt that fails.
