Ouch.
Well the ladies are strong enough for a 30%. The last cyclist up in that footage was in the drops! Never tried that, might have to give it a go, but imagining it ain't easy. Would love proper coverage, back to my imagining, Hmmm..
Here's the Phinney video
Brill, we all like to see other people suffering on climbs!
The laughable thing is the stage 5 profile, it looks like someone just made it up!
Route designer: 'I can't be arsed to look at the gradients for a mere eight miles, no one will notice until it's too late anyway.. put a bit of a bump in.. yeah that'll do.. right to the pub!'
in the 2013 Tirreno-Adriatico this was the climb in Stage 6 that some of the men put 30+tooth sprockets on for and up which much of the peloton walked. There's a bit of footage on the David Millar Project* youtue page of Phinney strugling up the 3rd time, off the back of the race but still on his bike. He finished OTL that day. Admittedly it was a 200k+ road stage and they had to do the steep bit three times, but puts in serious perspective the insanity of sending a TT up it.
*sidetrack: I guess this died? It wasn't looking too clever after the whole "not picked for the final TdF" fiasco
He refused to compromise on the release title 'David Millar: I used to be really good until I stopped taking drugs (which wasn't my fault by the way), have I mentioned I have a Maserati?' or edit it down from 6 hours.
This is what I imagine London cyclists think Box Hill is. Anyone, though, who lives anywhere near proper hills, is looking at this footage and thinking "what's so special about that?"
Fair play to them though, big hills like that are always good fun.
Cardboard box! We used to dream of a cardboard box.
A little bit of an actual (since the highlights haven't yet been posted) spoiler, but it was a time trial anyway, an this is a news site...
In any case, I think once you go past 25% it gets a little ridiculous, even the pro's are riding up at a walking pace.
hey Im just happy theyve noticed there is a Women's world tour bike race on for a change, when we get to a similar amount of daily stage updates and multiple articles about the days racing, then we can complain about spoilers
Sure. I wasn't complaining, just to clarify, if it did come out that way.
Did Mario Cipollini attend the women's race at the world championships back in October?
