Help buying mountain bike under £100
Hello everyone,
I recently moved to the UK and would like to buy a bicycle to move into the city, I was looking for options for under £100.
I’m 1,69m so probably a 54cm Road Bike Size would be suitable. (I would rather use a big mountain bike than a Small one).
These are the preferred options I found. I would appreciate any advice on which one seems to be the best possible mountain bike:
Option 1: Kona 7005 aluminum, Frame size 15" - 16", £70

Im bang on your height and used to ride a 17" CTT MTB and like riding small & chuckable. 16" is too small. 18" probably perfect. 19" on the big side.
CTT means the seat tube is measured from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube.
The other measurement is CTC (center of the bottom bracket to the center of the seat tube-top tube junction).
I'm little shorter than you and I'm planning to get a smaller mountain bike instead. I think I belong to kid's bike size category. LOL
Why did you opt for a bigger bike and how's your experience with it? I'm confused about the frame sizes.

That Saracen is a 20" wheel bike, not a 20" frame so it's for kids (probably max height of around 130cm).
The Kona link doesn't work for me but I think a 16" frame would be on the small side for your height.
Kona tend to the smaller frame, big standover height, more chuckable.
Whilst I'm taller than you I usually ride a medium mountain frame, which is usually badged as a 19". My son (who was around your height, now taller than me!) was also able to ride a 19 with the saddle all the way down.
Do you know how to service and work on a bike? Whatever you buy at that price level is likely to need some work doing, and that's expensive these days in most bike shops.
It might be worth looking around to see if there's a bike co-op or charity near you which recycles bikes, or a repair cafe where you can potentially get minor things fixed for free. Here's one near me https://www.newforestbikeproject.org/ but I'm sure there'll be something close by to you.

Just because I had always wanted a Kona.
They always looked cool.
They were and still are cool.
None of the links work for me but I found the Kona listing [here]. It's a 16" L'anai, which may be a bit small. From the photos it seems to be in really good condition.
I'd check the chain and brake pads, and clean & smear a tiny film of lithium grease on the seat post.
I'd also replace the tyres with City Jet 1.5" slicks with Schwalbe AV12A inner tubes and fit some clip-on mudguards like the SKS Velo or Zefal Classic.
Most importantly, get a decent lock - a U-lock/D-lock or a chunky chain, but not a cable - otherwise it will sadly get stolen.
