Points for Mountain classification

by Hansemann   April 26, 2011

Stage 15 contains one cat 2 climb, three cat 1 climbs and Cima Coppi
Does that mean that the total number of "mountain points" in the game for this stage could be:
1 x cat 2 = 5 points
2 x cat 1 = (2 x 10) 20 points (finish climb does not count)
1 x Cima Coppi = 20 points
Giving a total of 45 game points for this stage.
Am I correct?

No. we'll be doing a full story about Giro scoring this week, but for the record here's how the points will be awarded* for the mountains classification in the Giro:

Cat 3 climbs: 3 points for 1st down to 1pt for 3rd
Cat 2 climbs: 4 points for 1st down to 1pt for 4th
Cat 1 climbs: 6 points for 1st down to 1pt for 6th
Cima Coppi: double Cat 1 points

so there's still plenty of points to play for on stage 15. But not *that* many...

Intermediate sprint points *will* be as awarded in the race. everything else should be obvious from the stage listings.

*subject to any final tweaks
