Giant SL-1 Aero wheel owners - potential crack or manufacturing join?

Hi,

Apologies for what may be a blindingly stupid question but here goes!

I have a set of Giant  SL-1 55mm aero wheels which have been perfect up to now but I think they may have a slight crack on the braking surface. Now, what I'm unsure of is if this supposed crack could be the manufacturing join, and if it is has it opened up at all? The wheel did get a glancing side impact on Monday which could have been in a similar area which is why I'm thinking it may be a crack/cracked join.

There is no join on the rear wheel and I don't know of anyone nearby who has the same wheels to compare. I'm hoping to find out if anyone has the same wheels, can you have a look to compare?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Thanks for the replies guys. Spoke to my local bike shop who said upon closer inspection it didn't look quite right and might be able to get a warranty replacement.

That's a typical bike rim fusion weld. What you see is normal as brake dust made it nocticeable.

I agree with StraelGuy.

The "crack" will be on both sides of the rim in the same place if it's the extrusion join and also it will be smooth to the touch as the joint is usually smoothed out during manufacture.

That looks very much like the join where the two ends of the extrusion meet.
