A friend and I have hatched a plan to ride 250km in France over 3 days, from Caen to St Malo, on our bikes. I’m looking for advice from anyone who has done a similar short trip, with basic camping gear (tent/sleeping bag/stove/pan) on a bike without the option for a fully ridgid rack and panniers? I’ve been looking at the seat post clamp on racks, and possibly a bar mounted bag, but both look a bit iffy. Help!

seatpost mounted racks are okay up to about 8kg in my experience, and *much* better with a topbox than panniers. I’ve got one of those topeak bikamper tents that uses your front wheel and your forks as the tent structure. only big enough for one, but packs down tiny and keeps your bike fairly safe too. you can strap it to your ‘bars or frame. great for light touring.
