Strava Premium (annual subscription)
£47.99

A do-all and effective platform that helps with training, adds a social element, and gamifies your cycling

Strava Premium adds a degree of gamification to your rides that almost everybody involved in cycling is aware of. The route planning is simple and effective, plus the quick synchronisation with other devices is a really nice touch. The training elements are good too.

Pretty much every cyclist, whether they love it or hate it, knows about Strava. While the basics are still free, users are now required to pay for a host of features such as leaderboards.

Although Strava is best known for its gamification elements, the routing is perhaps the feature we've found most useful on the premium version. There are a few elements to it, but in terms of usability and usefulness, the planning and multi-device upload has impressed us the most.

Once done, the integration with most modern GPS computers means that your route will magically appear on your headunit without you having to do a thing. You can 'star' segments that you want to target and as you approach one, a compatible headunit will give you data which can help you to claim the KoM.

All you need to do is add a strong set of legs.
