female cycling buddies

Hello all,
My girlfriend lives near to Newbury and is looking for FEMALE bike companions. We have just come back from training in the South of France so she has good miles in her legs. Could you get back to me here and I will forward details to her. She is 40, and only really got into biking 3 months ago but has thrown herself into the sport with full vigour! We train together when we can as i live in London. I just want to get her moving on with regular rides and "better" riding company. Any takers?

Thanks,
Statueman

Incidentally I'm a female (not a fella 3 ) also - if she is on twitter she can always PM me @mooleur - happy to chat/help etc

Clubs would be your best bet, plenty of friendly ladies there. There's the social stuff on BC as well as the Breeze Network (a womens specific social cycling network set up by british cycling - all the details are on the BC site) - but that's a little more leisurely than some ladies might want.

Get on Twitter and just search things like #womenscycling etc - there's LOADS of lasses who've set up accounts on there specifically to spread news & social stuff on womens cycling so it's always easy enough to find girls to ride with.

First stop for me would be to try to find a local club or group, they're not all MAMILs fuelled by testosterone.

There is also a women's section in the Bikeradar.com Road forums, you could try posting something on there.

Have you/she tried British Cycling's 'Social Cycling' thingy to hook her up with others?

Also, with miles like that in her legs, keeping up with a club run probably won't be an issue - any local clubs with females?
