Tesco unveils dedicated 'Bike Shop' concept
Tesco, the UK’s biggest retailer, has set its sights on the bicycle sector, opening a ‘Bike Shop’ concept at a number of its stores, according to the trade website, BikeBiz.

Supermarket giant Tesco is embroiled in a legal dispute with Universal Cycles, controlled by Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct group, after a member of staff mistakenly paid £984,000 for six Muddy Fox mountain bikes.

The recent media fanfare over the “Cheapest Bike in Britain”, ASDA £70, was quickly followed by the advertisements getting pulled for showing the gents version with its forks on backwards. Most bike aficionados scoffed at the low spec and called them Bicycle Shaped Objects ( BSO ), none thought that these cheap Supermarket bikes could encourage people to take up cycling ..

Cambridge Cycling Campaign demands ban for Tesco
Cyclists have enough to worry about on the roads with motorists and pedestrians causing havoc. But riders in Cambridge could also have 34ft lorries to contend with thanks to a new Tesco store opening in the city.
The Tesco Express store is set to open in Mill Road on Wednesday, August 26 but with less than three weeks until the shop opens its doors Cambridge Cycling Campaign has called on the council to take enforcement action against the supermarket and stop the opening.
