Craft Performance Bike Featherlight Vest 2012

Price:
£45.00

Featherlight by name, featherlight by nature, this gilet from Craft Performance is extremely lightweight and packable. Does it still do as good a job at protecting you from the elements as a gilet should?

Try One of These

I was reading a French Cycling Magasine, Top Vélo, and I came across this article, on their project light bicycle, which they seem to do every year.

How about road.cc asking to borrow it?

Or perhaps trying one of our own, (and then offering it up for schwag Confused )

I have the full listing of parts in my magasine, but from what I can remember, its:

Lumicycle Elite 26 LED 3Si

Price:
£200.00

Lumicycle's LED3Si is an excellent light that's impressive value for money. It's very similar to Lumicycle's flagship LED4Si road light but with just three emitters instead of four. Entirely unsurprisingly, that makes the claimed output three-quarters that of the 4Si at 850 lumens. Also unsurprising is that the battery lasts longer, with three hours on the highest-power mode.

PDW Radbot 1000 rear LED

Price:
£19.00

The Portland Design Works (PDW) Radbot 1000 is a powerful rear LED with some eye catching flash options.

This light has been popular in the US for a while now, so it seemed like a good idea to try one out. Out of the box it's a neat design, good-looking and compact. It proved simple to fit and was easy to unclip from its mount to swap between bikes. It also fitted nicely on to the webbing loop of a Carradice saddlebag without moving around too much, helped by a nice tight clip with a security step.

Silva Singletrack Headlamp

Price:
£299.99

The Silva Singletrack light is designed as a do-it-all option for keen all-round cyclists and adventure runners; it has a separate battery pack and comes with a handlebar mount, a helmet mount for off-road riding and a head harness for trail running. At 1,030 lumens (claimed), it chucks out an enormous amount of light and those lumens are used to the maximum effect thanks to Silva's intelligent light technology giving focus both deep and wide. It's about as close as you'll get to riding in daylight when it's dark outside.

Now sold: New Bont Vaypor 2011 size 41 white and black shoes, £130

For sale a pair of new but extremely lightly used Bont Vaypor's.

Cost £269 new

Sell these in the original box for £130 plus £10 insured next day delivery courier service.

They have been used for 1 week and have been heat molded once. They still look like new and only have the odd surface scratch on the sole as any shoe would get from it's first use.

The shoes insole still has the sticker on and as these were used with custom footbeds there are no marks to the insole.

How bright is your beam? Shedding some light on Lumens

Getting the right lights is important. Not only are they a legal requirement when its dark but they can free you from the turbo and open up a whole new world of riding opportunities. We've covered many of the basics of choosing lights in our buyer's guide but now it's time for the science bit: what's all this stuff about lumens?

NiteRider Ultrafazer Max front light

Price:
£39.99

NiteRider’s Ultrafazer Max might sound like a dodgy sci-fi spin off but it’s a very powerful commuter lamp utilising some equally clever optics.

A single watt LED casts a very pure white beam that’s adequate to see by in urban and suburban contexts, albeit a little underpowered for longer training runs taking in rural back roads. Claimed water resistant to a mind boggling 50m, it passed my bucket and hose tests hands down but peripheral vision and battery consumption need addressing.

Cateye EL-020 Hybrid solar + battery front light

Price:
£49.99

The Cateye EL020 hybrid lamp certainly isn’t the most powerful in its class but sophisticated solar technology backed by a single AA contingency cell signals an end to sudden, unexpected and potentially fatal blackouts.

However, the small, uncharacteristically fiddly switch was poorly positioned and particularly difficult to engage on the fly, let alone wearing winter gloves.
