Just the one today....Clement in for the withdrawn Arredondo
LuLu
Sammy
Contador
Tejay
Kessiakoff
Anacona
Uran
Bobridge
Clement
I was tempted by Westra who seems to be the name on everyone's lips but it would have meant taking LuLu out and today looks to be his sort of day
After a crappy few days of not picking the right riders i'm hoping today is more straight forward
Jrod
SS
Mezgec
Howard
Nizzolo
Ferrari
Chaves
Bodridge
Vallee
Gone with
Contador
Ratto
Kelderman
Mezgec
Howard
Ferrari
Serpa
Baugnies
Howson
My Volta has been shocking so far. Today's team is:
Joaquin Rodriguez (KAT)
Jack Bobridge (BLK)
Luka Mezgec (GSH)
Alberto Contador (TSB)
Leigh Howard (OGE)
Stef Clement (BLK)
Adam Yates (OGE)
Andrey Zeits (AST)
Andrew Talansky (GRS)
I came 3rd in this comp last year thanks to picking Gerrans for that stage mentioned above. Nowhere near that this year! I've got a very messy selection, 4 sprinters for today(?) and tomorrow, one GC and some very random break guys.
Mezgec
Howard
Dumoulin
Alaphilippe
Rodriguez
LL Sanchez
De Greef
Gaimon
Frohlinger
After coming a heady 582nd in Tirreno I'm currently 11th in the Volta. This game, eh?
gone for:
TVG
J-Rod
Mezgec
Ferrari
Howard
Van der Sande
Yates
Fernandez
Oswian
Stage is underway, break after 15km break is Serry, Zeits, Koch, Haga, Beppu & Taciak.
Break has been caught, all back together after 25km.
50km gone, all together still
Courtesy of @pelotonwatch
Leaders are Earle,Kruijswijk, Burghardt, Roy, Rolland, Preidler, Madrazo & Owsian. After 62km gap is 1'40"
8 in the break
58 EARLE, Nathan (AUS / Sky)
84 Kruijswijk, Steven (NED / Belkin)
95 BURGHARDT, Marcus (GER / BMC)
112 ROY, Jérémy (FRA / FDJ)
158 ROLLAND, Pierre (FRA / Europcar)
166 PREIDLER, Georg (AUT / Giant)
185 MADRAZO, Angel (ESP / Rural Caja)
196 Owsian, Lukasz (POL / CCC)
And hopefully, Kruijswick and Eale are in my Purist team.
go lukasz go!
Koch has now joined the break with over a 2' gap
This is good for me
Is it only the first bunch of the breakaway that counts? Or both (given there are less than 10 riders)?
It's whoever earns the KOM/sprint points in stage races rather than halfway bonuses in one day jobbies
I mean in Catalunya. We have 2 riders up front, 6 in the second break and the peloton 8 mins behind.
Joelsim - its only one-day races where the 10 bonus points are awarded to the breakaway. In tours, there are bonus points for intermediate sprints and KOMs, so there is no need for the 10 bonus points.
Oh I see. Didn't realise that.
I suspect I would be winning the whole thing if I'd known that.
That's my excuse.
No worries. I'd be even more annoyed if it were the case, the number of times I've missed out on the breakaways this week!
Nizzolo retires with knee pain
20km to go, all together. Final climb starts in about 5km so expect some attacks there and possibly a few more at the summit with about 8km to go.
Westra attacks....Navarro and Gaimon go with him
And now they come back together before.....BERTIE GOES!!
Mezgec wins
2nd alaphilippe
3rd Dumolin
4th Martens
5th M Kreder
6th Contador
7th A Yates
8th Reza
9th Va Der Sande
1 Mezgec
2 Alaphilippe
3 Dumoulin
4 Martens
5 Kreder
6 Contador
7 Yates
8 Reza
9 Van der Sande
10 Vigano
1,2,3 but took a hit by not keeping Contador (what's he doing up there? looking to snipe some bonus seconds?)
Annoyed that I forgot Martens, in hindsight he was a better pick than Howard.
Same as you drh - 1,2,3, picked Howard, dropped Contador.
Brought in Mezgec, Ratto and Vignano. Kept Contador Yeats and Alaphillipe Didn't think of Sammy D
1,2,6,7,10 Purist 2,3,6,15
