#mycyclingweekend - rules: broken

It was wet, but you didn't let that - or anything else - stop you going out and having a great time!...

It was a wet one this #mycyclingweekend, there's no doubt about that, but you stuck to your guns and just like we suggested, you didn't let anything stop you from having  a great time riding over the last two days.

We talked about breaking the rules, and you certainly did. Most noticably by the Timsbury Cycle Group bunch who broke more rules than we could keep track of - fortunately, they're more clued up than we are. Here's Stafano Marazzi's run down:

Meanwhile Toby Cummins was also breaking some rules. Good on you Toby.

We're not sure what the rules are regarding drinking and cycling - obviously it can be inadvisable when done in extremes - but we're pretty sure that Instagram user ben_s48 is breaking some sort of rule by using his bottle cage for a Budweiser.

Putting Ben's choice of beverage to one side for the moment, we'd like to just say that we appreciate his ingenuity, and his desire to break 'rules'. Chapeau Ben.

But if we look at the concept of 'rules' as things that put up barriers against you lot having fun on your bikes, you all broke them. In fact, you smashed them, despite some pretty testing weather conditions.

In case you didn't notice, it was wet out.

One of the upshots when it's as wet as it was this #mycyclingweekend, are how proud you lot seem to be of your choices of footwear. We're not sure whether it's because you're proud at how well you've kept your feet warm, or you want a little bit of sympathy for your frozen little toes. Either way, we're big fans of overshoes here at road.cc, so we're also fans of yours.

Rules weren't the only thing that were broken this weekend. Steven Watt's #mycyclingweekend ride came to a premature end when his chain viscously attacked his wheel.

At the time of posting he said that he was unsure whether or not anything was broken. Our fingers are crossed for you Steven!

Finally, we had some good news from Instagram user daveb85, who announced a the arrival of a new member to the cycling fraternity - his daughter.

Click the video below and you can watch her first few pedal strokes into what could easily become a life long obsession. Congratulations to the pair of you!

Remember, it's not too late to get involved in the #mycyclingweekend fun. Simply pop your photos or videos from your weekend rides on Twitter or Instagram, and make sure the #mycyclingweekend hashtag is in the caption, and we'll receive it!
