Mark Cavendish and Peta Todd wed

Manx Missile & former glamour model tie the knot in London

Mark Cavendish, multiple Tour de France stage winner and 2011 world champion and his girlfriend Peta Todd, a patron of Help for Heroes and former glamour model got married on Saturday October 5.

The couple tied the knot at One Mayfair, an events venue in central London and asked that instead of presents, friends and fans make donations to Help for Heroes and Right to Play.

The couple first met in 2010 in Los Angeles and Cavendish popped the question two years later. They have a daughter, Delilah Grace Cavendish and Todd has a son, Finnbar, from a previous relationship.

Peta Todd gave up her work as a Page Three girl when she became pregnant in 2011. When she and Cavendish announced their engagement she said she was dreading the first dance at the reception as Cav is a bit useful on the dancefloor.

She said: "I am the most uncoordinated person you’ll ever meet — all long legs and clumsy feet — and Mark did ballroom dancing at national level as a teenager." News reports on the wedding have not yet revealed how the first dance went.

John has been writing about bikes and cycling for over 30 years since discovering that people were mug enough to pay him for it rather than expecting him to do an honest day's work.

He was heavily involved in the mountain bike boom of the late 1980s as a racer, team manager and race promoter, and that led to writing for Mountain Biking UK magazine shortly after its inception. He got the gig by phoning up the editor and telling him the magazine was rubbish and he could do better. Rather than telling him to get lost, MBUK editor Tym Manley called John’s bluff and the rest is history.

Since then he has worked on MTB Pro magazine and was editor of Maximum Mountain Bike and Australian Mountain Bike magazines, before switching to the web in 2000 to work for CyclingNews.com. Along with road.cc founder Tony Farrelly, John was on the launch team for BikeRadar.com and subsequently became editor in chief of Future Publishing’s group of cycling magazines and websites, including Cycling Plus, MBUK, What Mountain Bike and Procycling.

John has also written for Cyclist magazine, edited the BikeMagic website and was founding editor of TotalWomensCycling.com before handing over to someone far more representative of the site's main audience.

He joined road.cc in 2013. He lives in Cambridge where the lack of hills is more than made up for by the headwinds.

Appartently current "Strictly" rules exclude Cav because he's danced competatively as an amateur in the past. I read some interview with Cav a few years back and this question was asked and he replied he'd love to do it but was excluded.

Awww, sweet! Congrats to Mark and Peta and their children. I have seen a mere snippet of Mark Cavendish on the dancefloor as a teenager. Looked pretty useful!

I feel her pain, the first dance was the only bit I was nervous about...

Congrats.
