Rapha is introducing a new Outskirts collection designed for 'exploration by bike'. As well as clothing, the range includes sunglasses and even a hip flask.
The range is said to have been inspired by adventure riders Lachlan and Angus Morton. Lachlan, who races for UCI WorldTeam EF Education First, recently won the GBduro, a 2,000km race along dirt tracks from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The brothers' latest trip was in Vietnam, from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.
"The collection features many of their trademark style points including an abundance of tie-dye and overlaid patches and graphics," says Rapha.
"Core Cargo Bib Shorts form the foundation of the collection, and feature a Vietnam-inspired design. Limited-edition long and short sleeve technical t-shirts in high-wicking fabrics provide loose fitting cover for the top half while an extremely lightweight wind jacket, a cotton t-shirt, caps and a hip flask inspired by their journey round off the collection."

The 'standard' Core Cargo Bibs are £110, yet these add £35 for nothing more than a purple tie-dye on the uppers. No thanks, I have several pairs of the non-Cargo Core shorts and they're excellent, at £85, the 'uplifts' are just taking the proverbial.
I thought Rapha were the purveyors of expensive and stylish cycling clothing?
Got to be honest, this lot looks more like they're channeling one of those zombie brands stocked exclusively in Sports Direct...
Or you can wait a few weeks and pick up this fugly stuff at a massive discount from Sports Pursuit. Now, who said taking investment capital from you guys that brought you the George range wouldn't undermine your brand?
The Hip flask is OK I think - nice to have a nip of something to warm up before bivvying out on your adventures - , but the other pieces in this collection...(and the prices)...are not to my taste, but each to their own.

As a bit of a Rapha fanboy I think I can confidently say that that lot is some of the most fugly stuff I’ve seen!!
I've never wondered what it would be like if someone crossed some PedalEd (is that how you do it? Hmm, probably not) kit with some Primal kit. And now I don't have to.
