Giro launches Imperial top-end race shoes

New model is designed to be lightweight and highly breathable

Giro has announced the new high-end Imperial road cycling shoes which are light – with a claimed weight of just 430g per pair (Euro 42.5, UK 8) – and feature a Synchwire upper with a twin-Boa closure.

Synchwire? This means it uses a monofilament mesh reinforced with thermal-welded Teijin TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), the idea being to provide support and enhanced durability where it’s needed. You get dual Boa IP1 buckles featuring 1mm adjustment and incremental release, with soft lace guides that are designed to eliminate discomfort.

A high-modulus Easton EC90 SLX2 carbon-fibre plate is intended to deliver high stiffness-to-weight while the heel pads are replaceable. Giro uses its Super Natural Fit footbed system with a customisable arch support.

The Giro Imperials are available now for £374 from retailers and direct from www.giro.co.uk.
