Michael Broadwith on Shap Summit (via endtoend2018 on Twitter)LEJOG record holder to give talk at this year’s Hammersmith Cyclists’ Film Show
This year’s Hammersmith Cyclists' Film Show will include a talk by the current Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) record holder, Michael Broadwith. There will also be a showing of a Ray Pascoe film, 2 Days & 2 Nights – Revisited, about John Woodburn's 1982 LEJOG record.
Back in June, Broadwith set a new LEJOG record of 43 hours 25 minutes and 13 seconds – more than half an hour faster than the previous record, which had stood for 17 years.
The effort really took its toll, with neck pain a particularly big problem towards the end.
“I managed to figure out some cock-eyed method where I was propping my head up with my arm on the aerobar rest like Rodin’s The Thinker,” he said afterwards.
Doubtless he’ll share more details in his talk.
The two other films being shown in addition to 2 Days & 2 Nights are both Tour de France themed. They are Notebook from the Tour de France 2018 (Pascoe, 30 mins), and Keep Going Lapebie (Bromley,25 mins).
Hammersmith Cyclists’ Film Show will take place at Phoenix Cinema East Finchley on Sunday February 17 between 1.30pm and 5.15pm.
