De Ver Cycles in (Streatham / Norbury) London. I have used them in the past and its £50 plus parts, if I remember correctly. Found them good at what they do.
Ha. That's funny I cycle past that shop every morning! Thanks
Do yourself a favour and talk to a local wheelbuilder. They could sort you out with something nice that won't necessarily break the bank. Kinlin for example do some great rims like the xr300. £100 a pair, 105 hubs and builders costs would take you to around £200. Wrong, light and when required, every element can be replaced.
Thanks for that. Does anyone know any wbeelbuikders they've used before based in and around London, UK?

.
The SuperSix Evo is such a nice frame that it really is worth going to the Shimano RS81 wheelset. You will notice the difference!
Thanks harman that's what I'm thinking.... About the rs81s, what depth profile would you go for? On a sportive / summer bike?
I think they go as high as 50mm, but in all honesty I'm not sure 25mm in depth is going to make such a huge difference? It's nearly £300 price difference. The looks do certainly improve with more aero profiles of course.

That's exactly my issue. I think there's a good chance I'll continue to run my r500s into the ground until I:
a) break them
b) find a pair of wheels that I absolutely love for a reasonable amount of money, which is highly unlikely!

I'd agree. RS330 isn't that much different to R500. I can recommend the Shimano 6800 Ultegra wheels if you want to go tubeless, but they're not particularly light. If you shop around you can pick up a pair quite cheaply.
In my opinion, wheels are a very expensive way of reducing weight. Once you start spending over a few hundred pounds, you get diminishing returns for your cash (although expensive wheels do look great).
34.67kmh
That's a bit vague.
I have r500s on at the moment. How fast do you have to be going before 'better' rims start to show their qualities? On face value seems like you're paying a lot of money to drop 300g.
Planet X are selling the RS330s at £119.
They're unlikely to be much of an upgrade of the R500s, any supposed aero gains will be undetectable in the real world.
I'd recommend that you carry on using your R500s and save up for a properly nice wheelset. Hunt seem to get a lot of love on here.
Tubular with a little sealant great combo
I don't think you are going to get anything more aero that the Quattros in that sort of price range, spend the extra on a decent set of tyres (or look at this deal https://www.merlincycles.com/fulcrum-racing-quattro-lg-wheelset-with-gp4...)
The other deepish section rim in that sort of class is the Mavic Cosmic elite, not quite as deep or wide, similar weight, comes with tyres:

Thanks allanj, much appreciated. I think I need to do a little reading to understand what I'm actually looking for in wheels before I spend any money.
Cheers for advice!
Ok thanks - RS330 it is. I am just a bit concerned as they are more expensive then my R500 set, they look nicer and they seem of a good build when I inspect them (with my limited knowledge), but then I see they are nearly 190g heavier. I thought better wheels were meant to be lighter!
Stronger wheels are heavier, lightweight for very long climbs, but you won't really notice.
Put on some decent tubeless tyres and enjoy lovely ride.
Thank you sir I thought tubeless tyres were unadvisable if you're not on track? (probably a really stupid comment, sorry if so :P)
Tubeless is a system like on your car where no inner tube is required, and the tyre sits on the rim under pressure, a small amount of latex goes into the tyre which helps seal the tyre in the advent of a puncture.
Tubular is a system in which an inner tube is sewn into the carcass of a tyre and then glued onto the rim. (you can get far lighter wheels from tubular as the rim doesn't have to deal with the forces of a tyre pushing out at around 120psi. If you punture a tubular tyre then your only hope is that you have a Team car following you, a long taxi home or the inconvenience of carrying around a spare tyre and rim tape. Hence, apart from the sunniest of sunny day bike rides most people don't rides Tubular or Tubs as they are most commonly known.
Hope that helps
thanks it does - very kind
I'd tend to agree- they aren't much of an upgrade, should be pretty tough but neither particularly aero nor light. There are probably better options if you can get cash instead:
Fulcrum racing 5s https://www.merlincycles.com/fulcrum-racing-5-lg-clincher-road-wheelset-... which are a good bit lighter.
Or Quattros, which are a bit deeper secton and lighter than the 330s https://www.merlincycles.com/fulcrum-racing-quattro-lg-clincher-road-whe...
Thanks allanj that makes sense - i could get the £150 back and put another £150 on top. That would give me £300... What would you look at for a sportive/summer racing tyre if you had that amount of cash to spend? I would like something as deep/aero as possible, but i don't really know what the range of wheels out there looks like, so not sure what to look for.
Thanks again!
Keep these R330 wheels because £200 for a wheelset isn't going to buy anything special. £400+ will start to get something special. Hunt do a basic wheelset but start around £250.
