replacement forks for Pinnacle Arkose 2 (2013)

I have found to my consternation that the steerer tube on my Pinnacle Arkose has snapped.
Evans has said it was because I had clamped the stem too hard (even with the use of a torque wrench). anyways, I would have expected that the snap would have happened in my last 50 mile ride?
Of course it could have been attacked by my bin during the recent high winds, or the bin men could have placed the bin back in a positive manner...
anyways, so I have an issue. Is there a better carbon fork I can use, Evans does have a replacement fork, but is there another one I can look at? It needs to be carbon, with disc brake and mudguard eyelets.

Sorry for thread resurrection, but just came across this.

I have the same bike and have a problem with a constantly lossening headset. I replaced the stem as the original just didn't seem to be gripping the steerer properly, but that only made a slight improvement.

Where abouts did your fork steerer fail? I will inspect mine...

Thanks!

You could mail me at james.olsen.remote at hotmail.co.uk, I'm Pinnacle product manager and it'd be worth me having a look at this with a bit more background info.

Hi James,
You got mail!
just check with the Brighton Store whether they still have the old fork. And I have asked a question or two, maybe you can help?

Thanks all

I would go back to Evans in writing/email and have at them with the sales of goods act as they are taking the mickey

Be polite, be clear, forward your complaint to trading standards as well

They will cough up a new fork if you don't let them fob you off

Alas I cannot prove that the replacement stem caused it, even though there were previous issues that I had with the fork. I'll send an email, but I don't expect them to do much.
trading standards won't be interested at this point.
with regards to a replacement fork, I wonder whether it would be best to replace with their own brand or to stump up more for some other brand.

hi runskiprun, you could put a Lynskey carbon Endurance fork on, they are 1 1/8th straight so you may need a step down adaptor for the bottom headset race but easily do-able...have a look, I can do the work if required, forks retail @ £199 but I can do for less if you contact me jim @73degreesbicycles

Hi Jim

I'm down in Brighton, so it would be more cost effective getting it done locally. Thanks for the fork name, how expensive would the step down adapter be, does it add more weight to the forks?

How about

http://www.freeborn.co.uk/kinesis-dc37-fork-2015?gclid=CjwKEAiAlvilBRC5u...

Then there is Whisky Parts – Number 5 and 7 but find some one selling the right one to fit at a reasonable price, 5 alloy steerer - 7 full carbon - straight or tapered this side of the Atlantic may be a challenge???

Kinesis DC37 forks are like rocking horse dung at the moment, I've been after a pair since late November. I've either got to buy a new front wheel or a pair of these forks and disc calliper for my commute bike. Don't want to buy a wheel as I want to add a disc brake to my bike to go with the other bike being disc braked.
