Sidi launch new Sixty road shoes to mark 60th anniversary

To celebrate six decades in business, the Italians have launched these brand new road racing kicks that will set you back £330...

Italian cycling shoe specialists Sidi have unveiled a new model to mark their 60th anniversary, aptly named the Sixty. Handmade in Italy as always, it's a lightweight road racing shoe with a full carbon sole and is already being worn by Egan Bernal and Vincenzo Nibali.

Review: Sidi Wire Matt Carbon 2 shoes

Sidi were the first to introduce a cycling shoe with a bolt-on cleat in 1973 so know a thing or two about making them of course, and they've dubbed the Sixty a special shoe that "brings a fresh take on style and performance". Part of that fresh take is a new integrated heel cup, that is still reinforced like Sidi's previous shoes but is mostly hidden under the upper material and sheds some extra weight. Sidi say the anatomically shaped cup utilises lightweight, reinforced construction to stabilise and support the foot while pedalling and won't deform over time.

The upper is made with Sidi's TechPro microfibre, featuring a technical and supposedly eco-friendly material that they claim is durable, light and well vented. They also say it's their lightest shoe ever, although we're just checking on what that weight actually is per shoe.

Other feature highlights include Sidi's Vent carbon sole - with an integrated vent that can slide with the turn of a screwdriver to allow extra air in - and the Tecno-4 closure system with a single dial that provides precise tension release and a fast closure.

The Sixty will be available to the public from the beginning of January, priced at £330 and available in blue and black, red and black, white and black and plain black colourways.

Arriving at road.cc in 2017 via 220 Triathlon Magazine, Jack dipped his toe in most jobs on the site and over at eBikeTips before being named the new editor of road.cc in 2020, much to his surprise. His cycling life began during his students days, when he cobbled together a few hundred quid off the back of a hard winter selling hats (long story) and bought his first road bike - a Trek 1.1 that was quickly relegated to winter steed, before it was sadly pinched a few years later. Creatively replacing it with a Trek 1.2, Jack mostly rides this bike around local cycle paths nowadays, but when he wants to get the racer out and be competitive his preferred events are time trials, sportives, triathlons and pogo sticking - the latter being another long story.

I've been saving my pocket money to buy some Dromarti shoes. Now I'm not so sure. Those blue shoes are beauties. I'd definitely be faster wearing those!

Very smart but for that price I'd expect them to:

1. Keep my toes toasty warm in winter

2. Keep them cool in summer

3. Keep out the rain all year long

They won't do any of that though will they ?
