Brompton launches New York City Edition folding bike

Limited edition package features reflective accessories from Vespertine

British folding bike brand Brompton has unveiled its New York City Edition in collaboration with Vespertine NYC. The New York City Edition includes a limited edition bike with a roll top bag with a reflective design and clothing set.

“With a limited run of 1,500 units, the bike has been designed to focus on urban performance and visibility,” says Brompton. “It features reflective Brompton and NYC decals along with lime green details: anodised cranks and hub, accented Ergon grips and a low profile saddle, allowing safety on the streets with style.

“Vespertine NYC created the reflective design that is featured on the bike, bag, merino scarf and hat. In developing the project, Vespertine NYC took striking and prolific elements of the city, such as the Manhattan Bridge, the Chrysler Building and the chevrons painted in cycle paths on New York city streets, and combined them into the semi-abstract design that forms the backbone of the brand’s Haute Réflecture collection.”

Along with reflective decals, each bike features a USB rechargeable saddle light and regular Brompton battery/USB set for visibility at night.

“All accessories launching with the NYC Edition are 100% merino wool to ensure maximum warmth,” says Brompton. “The 3M reflective thread adds a level of brightness which allows drivers to see riders from over 2,000 feet away. The hat can be worn underneath a helmet with reflective detail still visible, and the shoe laces remain super reflective all year round.

The two-speed bike and bag will be available for £1,150 in the UK, and the six-speed version will be £1,260.
