2022 Mason Definition Chorus
£3665.00

The Mason Definition Chorus is a jack of all trades, yet amazingly a master of all. It's the definitive all-round road bike that offers great ride quality and geometry which makes the bike fun to ride regardless of speed. We were also impressed with the attention to detail, build quality and finish, top work all around.

Mason's Definition frame has grown a reputation of being the pinnacle of what an aluminium alloy road bike can be and has previously pioneered new ideas such as disc brakes and wide tyres. This new version takes an 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' approach with some welcome upgrades such as 12mm thru axles,  improved triple-butted 7000 series aluminium tubing that's handbuilt in Italy and space for 35mm tyres or 32mm with full mudguards.

The specifications sheet reads exactly as you'd want from a do it all bike with a threaded bottom bracket, semi-internal cable routing, internal routing for a dynamo cable, mudguard mounts, replaceable axle inserts, and the list goes on. All of this is on a frame that has lovely welding and well-thought-out geometry that blurs the lines between endurance and performance. We were also impressed that Mason offers the Definition in eight different sizes given the relatively small scale of production.

The Definition lineup is available in a wide range of builds, with electronic, mechanical, 1x and 2x options on offer thanks to SRAM, Shimano and Campagnolo. We had the Campagnolo Chorus option, and very impressive it was too. Finishing kit comes courtesy of Deda and some in-house Mason components and you also get a Mason X Hunt 4Season V2 alloy disc wheelset as standard, these blow most stock wheelsets out the water!

When it comes to the competition it's amazing how few brands have high-end aluminum bikes in their lineup, the Definition frameset will set you back £1,375 and that's easily justifiable when you see the quality in the flesh. The Definition is as close as you can get to a custom, yet off-the-shelf bike and the way this thing rides is a masterclass in bike design and engineering
