Duo to do Edinburgh-London non-stop rickshaw ride

Cracknell attempts another cycling adventure

While his first attempt at cycling across the country failed James Cracknell will this weekend give it another go – this time with his adventuring partner Ben Fogle. The two Adventurers will be attempting the Ride of Britain, a 450 mile, 60 hour non-stop rickshaw journey from Edinburgh to London, to raise money for The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) – Forces Help.

Ben and James will set off from Edinburgh Castle at 8am on Saturday 3rd October in an attempt to arrive in time for the ‘Pride of Britain’ Awards Ceremony in London on Monday 5th October!

SSAFA Forces Help works tirelessly to support those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who used to serve and the families of both.

Olympic athlete Cracknell has teamed up with TV presenter Ben Fogle once again after the duo rowed across the Atlantic

In early August Cracknell teamed up with fellow Olympian, and Beijing cycling gold medallist, Rebecca Romero for a tandem record bid from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The record attempt also marked the launch of the Deloitte Ride Across Britain.

The pair hoped that their lack of tandem experience and preparation would be made up for by their natural athletic ability and Romero was positive about the attempt before setting out, but the gruelling ride had to be abandoned after Romero had to withdraw from the ride because of pain in her knees.
