Valdora launch 2011 triathlon/time trial bikes

US brand's new carbon race machines hit the UK

Bikesales4u have just launched the 2011 range of Valdora triathlon/time trial bikes which come in SRAM builds and start at just under £2,000.

Valdora is a US brand whose carbon tri/TT bikes are built to a semi-compact geometry (a top tube that slopes according to frame size). The bikes are based around three triathlon frames: the PHX, PHX-1, and the top level PHX-2. Each uses a design that’s specific to Valdora rather than an open mould design that any manufacturer can use and stick their own name on.

We’ve not ridden any of the Valdoras but the tube profiles are extremely narrow and very deep. The PHX frames feature horizontal dropouts with finger-adjustable set screws so you can fine-tune the distance of the rear wheel/tyre behind the cutaway seat tube. You also get a replaceable rear mech hanger and internal cable routing, the rear gear cable exiting the chainstay just in front of the dropout.

The most accessible bike in the range is the PHX in a SRAM Apex build, which comes with Shimano R500 training wheels for £1,949. The PHX-2 is available in three different SRAM builds while the top-line model is the SRAM Red-equipped PHX-2 which costs £3,080 with R500s, or an extra £899 if you upgrade to Valdora’s own deep-section (58mm front 85mm rear) carbon clinchers.

All of the frames come with a five-year warranty. For all the details go to bikesales4u.com.
