Arnold Schwarzenegger security guard pulls taser on man suspected of trying to steal Terminator star's bike

A security guard working for Arnold Schwarzenegger pulled a taser on a man suspected of trying to steal a $5,000 electric bike belonging to the Terminator star.

The incident, which was filmed by bystanders including Douglas Nichols who posted footage to Instagram, happened on Friday morning in Venice, Los Angeles as the actor turned politician left a gym, reports TMZ.com, which also has still photos taken by people in the vicinity.

Nichols wrote: "Gold’s Gym this morning, witnessed Arnold's security pull a taser on man who was trying to steal Arnold's bike."

The suspected thief was reportedly held at bay by the security guard holding the taser, though it does not appear that the electric shock weapon was triggered.

Schwarzenegger, seemingly unfazed – and like the would-be thief, apparently untased – was said to have picked up his custom bike, which has a camouflage paintjob, and posed for photos with fans, before riding away.

Yahoo! News said it was unclear if the incident had been reported to the police, adding that the Los Angeles Police Department had not responded to any calls regarding an attempted bike theft at Gold’s Gym.

Four years ago, he was pulled over by a police officer in Melbourne, Australia for riding a bike without a cycle helmet, while the following year saw him filmed cycling on the wrong side of the road in Edinburgh, as well as getting stopped again by police for riding a bike through a train station in Germany.

In 2017, he joined then world road champion Peter Sagan and Mayor of Paris Anna Hidalgo in calling on governments around the world to make it easier for people to use bikes instead of cars for everyday journeys to help fight climate change and reduce air pollution.
