Video: Short film follows Jonas Deichmann during Oman leg of BikingMan ultracycling series

The next leg of BikingMan is in Corsica

BikingMan is a series of six unsupported ultracycling races in Oman, Corsica, Laos, Peru, Portugal and Taiwan. The 1,050km Oman leg took place in February and this short film by Kev Merrey follows the progress of German rider, Jonas Deichmann.

Juliana Buhring, who was the fastest woman in last year’s BikingMan Oman, said of the race: “Not only was Oman one of the most spectacularly diverse landscapes to ride through but a perfect introduction to the world of exploration cycling.”

This film follows Deichmann, who quite literally lives on the road – he has no home and no possessions other than his bike and cycling gear.

For a time he held the record for the fastest unsupported crossing of Europe by bike until it was broken by Sean Conway last year.

Deichmann finished 13th, completing the race in just over 55 hours. Peru’s Rodney Soncco was quickest – just as he was last year – finishing in just 38h17m.

The next leg of BikingMan is in Corsica from April 29.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.
