Yorkshire Champions wanted to volunteer for 2019 UCI Road World Championships

Appeal launched for people to fill 2,000 places to help week-long event run smoothly

Today marks 300 days to go until Yorkshire welcomes the 2019 UCI Road World Championships - and organisers have launched an appeal for 2,000 'Yorkshire Champion' volunteers to help ensure the event runs smoothly.

The initiative was launched this morning in harrogate, the North Yorkshire town the will be the focal point of the week-long event, with all races finishing there.

Opportunities to volunteer will be available across the region, however, in what organisers say is a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to play a role in an event that is returning to Great Britain for the first time since 1982.

Roles lasting between one and nine days are available during the event, which runs from 21-29 September.

Yorkshire 2019 CEO Andy Hindley commented: “Volunteering will play a vital role in both the delivery and the legacy of Yorkshire 2019.

"We want to involve as many local people as possible in the World Championships and there is no better way to do that than by becoming a Yorkshire Champion.”

Anyone interested in volunteering and who is aged at least 18 years should head to www.yorkshirechampions.com for more information.
