Manchester attempted bike theft (via Facebook).JPGVideo: Manchester bike thief filmed punching bike owner
Footage shot in the centre of Manchester shows the moment a bike thief punched and kicked a cyclist who was trying to stop his bike from being stolen.
The video, shared on the UK Motorcycle Theft Protest Community page on Facebook, shows a man wearing a suit trying to intervene while other people watch the incident, which happened on Oxford Road.
After unsuccessfully trying to wrest the bike from its owner, the would-be thief, wearing a black hooded jacket, makes off with a friend on another bike, but not before shoving the woman filming who is trying to get a shot of his face.
It is not clear when the incident took place nor whether it has been reported to police.

Why, how observant of you! But you were the one who incorrectly accused me of misogyny, failed to respond to the earlier point that cunt has multiple uses, one of which is derogatory to women. You even claim that these alternative uses, even though they can be found in dictionaries, are imagined. Which seems extremely odd. The second thing that seems odd is that you seem more concerned about my use of the word cunt (you have failed to pick on others that use the same vocabulary) than you are about the racism expressed here. I can defend my use of the language in that it is suppposed to cause outrage and attract attention. But I would, if I were you, pay more attention to the racist content here than a few naughty words, unless, of course, you're happy for racists to ply their ignorance on these pages.

Stereotypes are great because they do actually come from somewhere even though people looking not to cause offence cry about their use.
I went to Hull a little while back and remembered it to be full of deadbeats. As soon as we got off the main road in......first person I see is sat on the floor surrounded by beer cans and the town centre was like the Tour de Smack with seriously low body fat guys on bikes with 'the hunger' in their eyes. Couldn't wait to leave. What culture. Pretty much fit the stereotypes I was imagining.

sounds like confirmation bias to me. That's similar to drivers only ever noticing cyclists who jump red lights, and never noticing other drivers, including themselves, who do ditto.
Stereotypes come from across the border, whatever the border happens to be. The Other is always depicted the same way, and it's always the nearest Other. Look at the similarities internationally of jokes about the Irish, Belgians, Poles, Sikhs etc.
Mostly stereotypes come from a power imbalance. It's usually the less powerful group that gets made into a stereotype. There's exceptions, of course, and sometimes even some basis for the stereotype, but it still leads to lazy (or lack of) thinking.

To those wondering why more bystanders didn’t intervene, a little perspective.
I intervened in a similar situation in south Manchester in 1999, and was stabbed twice in the back. Cue two weeks in hospital, unimaginable distress for girlfriend/family, loss of work and long rehabilitation.
You never know if one of the feral scrotes is packing a knife until it’s too late.
