London Cycle Theft Survey 2016 launched – win a bike

Give your view on how you would like to see cycle crime tackled

A new London-focused cycle theft survey has been launched by Stolen Ride and London Cycling Campaign. Participants are in with the chance of winning a Flat Bar Point AR Bike with Continental tyres worth £550, courtesy of Mango Bikes.

The survey aims to get a clear picture of the experiences and needs of London cyclists with regards to cycle crime.

It covers bike registration, insurance and security arrangements when parking a bike in public before going on to ask about the experiences of those who have had bikes stolen.

It asks where you have had a bike taken from – the geographical location and also whether it was from home, work, an out building or transport hub. It also asks about lock use, whether you reported the theft and how the incident has changed your cycling habits since.

You can also give your view on what you would like to see done to reduce cycle crime and recover more stolen bikes.

The survey can be found here and the results will be analysed by Quanteze, an online survey consultancy. Data will then be made publicly available by Stolen Ride and London Cycling Campaign.

Richard Cantle, Founder of Stolen Ride said:

“I urge all London cyclists to take and share this survey with others. Data is not only essential to fully understand trends and habits; it can be used to push and influence change. Stolen Ride is currently focused on its expansion into crime prevention and this data will be vital in our mission to create awareness and to help keep London cycling.”

Amy Summers, Campaigns Coordinator at London Cycling Campaign said:

“Cycle theft is a huge problem and barrier to cycling growth in London. LCC is committed to creating a happier city for everyone and with two-thirds of victims giving up cycling after a having a bike stolen, helping to tackle cycle theft is crucial. The data will help us craft campaigns to address specific areas.”

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.

Please note that the survey and competition are strictly for cyclists/ cycle commuters in the London area only.

Don't come crying to me when a meteor drops on you.
