To be honest - and putting aside the helmet question-  if they did have common sense then they wouldn't be riding Raleigh Choppers downhill on a road at night, would they?

You missed me? That is sweet. 

Cycling trip to Fuerteventura, Morro Jable. Thoroughly recommend it. Great roads & cycle paths, stunning beaches and landscape and generally patient drivers and non-knobhead cyclists getting along just fine. Met some very nice people.

Depends on the steepness of the hills I guess... and quality of their lights. The combined cycle / pub crawl element is more problematic. The only person wearing a helmet in one of their 32 pic galleries looks like a 13 year old boy ... with more sense than the rest of them put together!

There  is nothing to indicate it was a low speed crash. A quick look on google street view shows a reasonable hill which would be pretty exciting for somebody on a chopper, especially after being at the boozer at the top of the hill. There's also two 90* bends pretty close to each other. I would suggest that the lass has dropped her bike on the bend and the following fellas have collided with her and landed badly with very unfortunate results. We don't even know if the death was a result of face planting which a helmet would not have prevented. In fact a low speed crash would most likely have resulted in broken wrists as you would fling out your arms to break your fall. It is a very sad and unfortunate accident

Except that it was a leisurely group mixed gender ride out / pub crawl on Raleigh Choppers. I somehow doubt it was a chain gang training ride ...
