Female cyclist, 71, dies after collision with another cyclist

Pensioner knocked over her handlebars - police seek more information

A female cyclist has died following a crash with another cyclist last week.

Elizabeth Hoare, aged 71 and from Exeter was thrown over the handlebars of her bicycle in the collision and hit the ground.

She was in a critical condition for four days following the crash, which happened on a cycle path on the southern side of Western Way towards Exe Bridges in Exeter, at a pedestrian crossing near the BT building.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened on October 15.

Ambulance crews arrived at the scene shortly after they were alerted to the collision at about 5.15pm on Thursday.

The woman was later taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit in Exeter are appealing for further witnesses to come forward quoting log number DCP-20151015 - 0593.
