Paul Smith collaborates with Kask to create special Protone helmets

Designer Paul Smith creates special Kask Protone helmet

Paul Smith has collaborated with several cycling brands over the years, including Rapha and the Giro d’Italia, with his design of the Maglia Rosa jersey, and he even launched his own 531 clothing range.

His latest project though is a partnership with Kask, helmet sponsor of Team Sky, and the creation of a rather special Protone aero helmet.

- Review: Kask Protone Helmet

Paul Smith has taken the helmet company’s latest Protone, an aero road helmet, and applied a ‘Rainbow Gradient’, a blue to orange colour fade over a silver base which “gives the helmet an iridescent finish”. This gradient colour finish has been borrowed from Paul Smith’s spring and summer clothing collection.

And that’s it, really. The Paul Smith + Kask ‘Rainbow Gradient’ Protone helmet costs £220. A regular Protone, available in a range of colours, costs £195.

Nice to see an original design again from PS rather than the obvious old, done to death stripe. Colour is what the man does. This will look great with my all black kit and black bike. White highlights mind!! 4

That should definitely make you go faster in the hope that no one will see you.

I want a subtle black one with that wavy bit that runs through the front vents in the trademark Paul Smith stripes please...

P.S. - I want royalties too...
