Halfords Tour Series teams announced

Kuota-road.cc one of 10 teams invited to slug it out on streets of Britain this spring

Today the full list of teams invited to compete in this year's Halford's Tour Series is announced, among them is Kuota - road.cc.  Ten teams will battle it out in town and city centres across the country during May and June.

The teams invited to race the 2010 Halfords Tour Series are:

·      Team Corley Cycles
·      CyclePremier.com – Metaltek
·      Endura Racing
·      Team Ireland
·      Kuota – Road CC
·      Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta
·      Pendragon Le Col Colnago
·      Team Raleigh
·      Rapha Condor Sharp
·      Sigma Sport – Specialized

Series organisers SweetSpot reckon that this year's series boasts the strongest line up yet of the UK's elite riders. The ten selected teams include some of the greatest road and track racing talent produced in the UK in the last 20 years. They compete to wear the coveted Halfords leader jersey and to be crowned the champion team in Britain.

Amongst the big names that will be competing are Olympians Chris Newton, Rob Hayles and Ed Clancy, as well as a host of the best established and upcoming domestic talent the sport has to offer.

Certainly the guys at Kuota - road.cc will be busting a gut to make their mark in the series. Last year the core of the team raced as Madison - Plowman Craven, winning the Woking round and being narrowly pipped for third place overall in a very tight series.

Commenting on the announcement Kuota - road.cc team manager, Eddie White said:

"We are going to be a force to be reckoned with. This is really good news, we've put together a really strong team with some of the best criterium riders in the country.

"I'm pleased for the riders who are a very enthusiastic bunch and for Cherie [Pridham] my co-manager, who has done so much to keep the team together, and the long term sponsors who've kept faith with us. Now with Dave Williams [of Kuota] and the enthusiasm he' brought to the team everyone is very upbeat"

In what has been a good few days for the new team The Halfords Tour Series invite comes hot on the heels of their first win of the season, a one-two at the Darley Moor Elite Circuit race. The team's new Kuota bikes are also on their way as is the new team strip - more on both of those soon.

The Halfords Tour Series is a calendar of 10 cycle races, launched in 2009, based on short, exciting town and city centre circuits at venues across the UK. Each race is action-packed, bringing the thrills, and spills, of professional cycling up close to thousands of spectators at every venue. Uniquely, The Tour Series focuses on the teams rather than individual riders, with ten top British teams battling it out to be crowned the number one team.

Will be interesting to see how Dave Clarke of Pendragon does in the series. Saw him put in some good rides at Crits in Blackpool last season.

Thanks Old Cranky… though I'd have to say it is Cheri and Eddie who really deserve the congrats - they did all the hard work.
