Police charge man over Aberdeen laptop driver video

Footage of motorist using laptop and mobile phone went viral after it was posted to Facebook

Police Scotland say a man has been charged and a report passed to prosecutors after a video was posted online showing a a motorist using a laptop computer and handheld mobile phone, as well as wearing headphones, while driving a Land Rover Discovery in Aberdeen.

Footage of the man, who was behind the wheel of a Land Rover Discovery, went viral after YouTube user Aberdeen Cycle Cam posted it to the video-sharing website after fillming it last week.

In a statement, Police Scotland said:

Police Scotland can confirm that, following inquiries into footage showing a road traffic matter on Queens Road, Aberdeen, a 46-year-old man has been charged and reported to the procurator fiscal.

The incident took place on February 5. It is anticipated the male will appear in court at a later date.
