Cipollini release Nuke time trial bike in track and road versions + video

You just have to watch the totally over-the-top promo ad

Cipollini launched a new time trial bike called the Nuke at Eurobike, and here it is in all its glory. If you’ve not yet seen the promo for it yet, take a look; it manages to be completely over the top and yet still cool! Kind of.

The Nuke, available by special order only, joins the existing RB1000 TT time trial bike in the Cipollini lineup, but the two bikes are very different in shape.

The Nuke’s frame and fork are made from T800 and T1000 carbon fibre with reinforcements in 1K. Two versions are available: track and road. The track version gets a BB386 bottom bracket while the road version is BSA (threaded).

The monocoque fork features an integrated brake, while the rear brake is similarly hidden away just behind the bottom bracket (this applies just to the road version, there being no brakes on the track model, of course). The chainstays are sculpted so that the brake actually sits within them.

The other clever feature is the integrated stem which allows internal cables to pass through. It also provides 12mm of height adjustment. The whole of the front end flips around to achieve this.

The Nuke is built up with a Campagnolo Super Record EPS (electronic) groupset with a Campag Bora Ultra 80 wheel on the front and a Bora Ultra TT full carbon disc on the back.

The five-minute ad has been around for three weeks now and it has a thriller-type vibe to it with Super Mario himself in the starring role, naturally. He’s not short of ego, that fella (okay, that's not news). We can’t quite make out whether Cipollini are being serious here or whether it’s tongue in cheek. Either way, the vid is worth a watch. Goodness knows how many Nukes Cipollini need to sell to cover the production costs.

Cipollini’s UK distributor is Paligap

Was I the only one worried what was in store after seeing the advert end with Cipo going off with those two girls but with half the video still to go?

No-one does bike marketing like supermario! Trust him to bring out the hot women at the end as well.

Isn't Cipo knocking on for almost 50?

I'd love to look anywhere near as good as he does at that age.
