road.cc's 2014 Metric Century Challenge is go!

The prizes aren't worth it. But in the long run, you'll thank us… So, you in then?...

Looking for a goal for 2014? Enter our Metric Century Challenge!

It's simple. At least, simple to explain. Record one continuous ride of 100km or more in every month of 2014. If you manage it, you win a pair of socks! See? Simple.

100km is a long way through the flooded lanes of January though, even further when the floods freeze over in February. But soon it'll be spring and the sun will shine* and it'll get warmer and you'll be knocking the centuries out for fun, buoyed by the early season fitness you got from dragging yourself out of bed to do the winter rides.

And then, before you know it, the wind and rain will be slicing the leaves from the trees again, but you'll be committed by then so you'll have to, HAVE to get those last few, wet, cold, long rides done. And then the socks will be yours. And how you'll have earned them.

All you have to do to be a part of it point yourself at the Metric Century Challenge forum topic and log your rides. We won't be checking up. You'll only be cheating yourself. Good luck!

*DISCLAIMER: sun may not shine

I've posted a ride today but confused as to whether I'm within the rules. I completed 132km with 2 coffee stops. The rules say that tea stops are allowed but not multiple daily rides - is there a limit on the length of the tea stop before a single ride with a stop becomes two separate rides in the same day! 3 1

How about 100km on rollers for arctic participants, when all roads are snow covered? Will it count?

Wow, would have to be biblically bad weather for a month to see me do a 100km on a turbo in one sitting! Please let us know how you get on!
