Cycling Drinks

New to this forum - is there no search facility?

What are your preferences for drinking while cycling? I normally drink Isostar Lemon but having just run out finding availability online very difficult, not sure if there are import problems related to Brexit.

The best option I can find is a site called sport-max.co.uk that will ship 1500g bags from Poland but are there now tariff implications?

Or what alternatives would you recommend?

Thanks,

GT

I only drink water on rides these days. I've tried all the isotonic drinks and so on, sometimes had one bottle of carb drink and one water, but now just water and food: bananas, High5 bars, and so on. Never liked the taste of energy drinks.

There is a search function.
Don't expect great results though. Try Google with site : road.cc

Water.

The only drink that gets a thumbs-up from my dentist.

I use the High-5 big tubs from Wiggle: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/high5-energy-drink-powder-22kg-1

(2.2Kg for £20.99)

I've only tried the Citrus flavour which is pleasant enough.

I use the same stuff. It seems to do the job, on cycles over about three hours I'll bring a few fig rolls too. I have high five citrus at the moment but I've had the berry one before, both flavours are fine. The only other one I've tried is Torq citrus, I didn't like it.

I follow hero Graeme Obree's recommendations which I heard once on some interview- I take a sandwich or some other food, and some water. Of course, most of the time I'm not racing others.

Lots of water, tea in an insulated stainless steel bottle, long ride cold can of coke in a can cozy.

Real food too, homemade brownies and flapjacks, and sandwiches.  Jelly Babies for something to carry around "just in case".  Bananas in BananaGuards.

Decathlon's Aptonia ISO+ is comparable but cheaper. Similarly not as sickly sweet as some energy drinks. If you've a store locally then it's usually in stock and in a sale even when their website says it's out of stock online.

My local 'Home Bargains' has been selling Science in Sport hydro tabs in amongst the ridiculous protein body builder nonsense. I can't remember how much but it was something daft like £1.49 instead of the £7 RRP.
