The bridge doesn't pay road tax, nor does the wall - that's all you need to know.
But in the case of the wall, the fact that cars are registered, drivers licensed and as you say insured, I'm sure matters will be swiftly resolved. I mean it's not as though you'd do something like that and then drive off, is it?
Actually, if you read the report, it had nothing to do with the BMW driver. It says, "A driver was freed by firefighters after his car hit a pub in Bury St Edmunds on Friday night."
It's surprisingly possible to roll over at very low speeds if you hit another car just

Imagine getting you bicycle stuck on one of those. You'd be stuck for hours!
Flipping crashing cars.
Reading the news report, it seems the car just wanted its tummy rubbed...
"A spokesperson said the vehicle had rolled onto its side in the car park..."
What is the cost in terms of the emergency services' time in picking up the pieces, day after flipping day? Tempting to say "ok bored now", but the "cyclists should be made to take a test", pay insurance, pay 'road tax' brigade just keep on coming.

It's a cheap shot to say "oh look, empty pavement, clearly the new cycle lanes haven't single-handedly reversed 5 years of High Street retail decline"
Anyway, this on Facebook - comments looked pretty horrendous.
another day, another bridge strike

Might be happening more frequently now, but this is from 2001. The transporter hit a railway bridge just outside my house. Not sure if it made the local paper at the time.

Mr Gower said: "I woke up at 7.15am and I opened the curtains at 8am and all the fence was down.
"They went into next door and knocked her fence down, then they backed into my place to get out."
From the tyre tracks, Mr Gower said it looked like it had been a 4x4 vehicle.

clearly a case for ambulances to have hi viz, a bell, and proper lights

Why won't barriers take some responsibility for their own safety and wear some hi-viz?

Sorry the layout of this thread has itself become a car crash. I have written to our new Editor, Mr Sexty to ask if they can disentangle the wreckage. I hope it's not a write-off.

A CAR dealer was stopped for speeding while demonstrating a BMW to a customer.
He was also penalised for failing to display trade plates property after being stopped travelling at 62mph in a 50mph limit on the Dorset Way in Poole.
A spokesman for the Dorset Police No Excuse team said: "The trade plate has been slung on the dashboard and only half of it can be seen anyway.
"Didn't help that the driver decided to draw the attention of one of our officers by doing 62mph in a 50mph zone on the Dorset Way and with a customer on board too. Fixed penalty given for the two offences."

A 24-year-old resident, who had been enjoying some drinks with her flatmate, was getting into bed when the crash happened.
She said: “There was just this huge impact. The whole building shook and there was a bang.
“My flatmate thought I had fallen out of bed. She came upstairs and I told her someone had driven into the building. She said, ‘Don’t be silly.’”
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, lives on the second floor of the block.

I passed this scene yesterday. Apparently self driving BMW swerved to avoid another car. Shop should have had lights and bright signs on.
UPDATE - 6 months in jail. Attached.
Would have been non-custodial, but he managed to miss all 3 cyclists
Dangerous drink driver jailed after crashing into house in Poole
the video appears to be his dashcam - right at the end he approaches a roundabout, it looks like he clips a bollard, at which point it ends. Another one for the collection.
