Sobs. Why o why o why...
Did I loise my nertve and tfr contador and tosh for nizzollo and ferrari. I would have won the stage by a mile if I had stuck. Blew my own plan for stage wins.
Shouls I give up this game?
I came second to Wig_Billy on Forumscorum's! I think Nix is third.
Only team in the top 30 without Contador. Frustrating.
Scores up, 115 and moved up to 6th, it's getting very tight at the top.
Now, how do I make up 50 points in two days
Gamble
Nah, tomorrow is a play it safe day then go for it on Sunday. I think the winner will be the one who picks the right riders for the tricky finish on Sunday.
Also, I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to win anything on a usual race let alone one that I'm running so I'd rather protect my position and go for the Forum Scorum win than take a big risk to try and win the whole race.
I sacrificed my team yesterday to go stage hunting for the final 3 stages.
1,2,3,4,9,16,20 today. Pretty good, but I think Contador might have spoiled it.
1,2,6,15,17 std
1,6,purist
11 Hardy
12 Talansky
13 Martin, D
14 Serry
15 Howard
16 Bardet
17 Kelderman
18 Malacarne
19 Paterski
20 Ratto
That makes it 1, 2, 3, 15, 19 & 20 plus GC points, probably around 110 points, might be enough to keep me top 10 but I'm not sure.
Brought in Mezgec, Ratto and Vignano. Kept Contador Yeats and Alaphillipe Didn't think of Sammy D
1,2,6,7,10 Purist 2,3,6,15
Same as you drh - 1,2,3, picked Howard, dropped Contador.
1 Mezgec
2 Alaphilippe
3 Dumoulin
4 Martens
5 Kreder
6 Contador
7 Yates
8 Reza
9 Van der Sande
10 Vigano
1,2,3 but took a hit by not keeping Contador (what's he doing up there? looking to snipe some bonus seconds?)
Annoyed that I forgot Martens, in hindsight he was a better pick than Howard.
Mezgec wins
2nd alaphilippe
3rd Dumolin
4th Martens
5th M Kreder
6th Contador
7th A Yates
8th Reza
9th Va Der Sande
And now they come back together before.....BERTIE GOES!!
20km to go, all together. Final climb starts in about 5km so expect some attacks there and possibly a few more at the summit with about 8km to go.
Nizzolo retires with knee pain
I suspect I would be winning the whole thing if I'd known that.
That's my excuse.
No worries. I'd be even more annoyed if it were the case, the number of times I've missed out on the breakaways this week!
Oh I see. Didn't realise that.
Joelsim - its only one-day races where the 10 bonus points are awarded to the breakaway. In tours, there are bonus points for intermediate sprints and KOMs, so there is no need for the 10 bonus points.
I mean in Catalunya. We have 2 riders up front, 6 in the second break and the peloton 8 mins behind.
Is it only the first bunch of the breakaway that counts? Or both (given there are less than 10 riders)?
It's whoever earns the KOM/sprint points in stage races rather than halfway bonuses in one day jobbies
Koch has now joined the break with over a 2' gap
This is good for me
go lukasz go!
Courtesy of @pelotonwatch
Leaders are Earle,Kruijswijk, Burghardt, Roy, Rolland, Preidler, Madrazo & Owsian. After 62km gap is 1'40"
8 in the break
58 EARLE, Nathan (AUS / Sky)
84 Kruijswijk, Steven (NED / Belkin)
95 BURGHARDT, Marcus (GER / BMC)
112 ROY, Jérémy (FRA / FDJ)
158 ROLLAND, Pierre (FRA / Europcar)
166 PREIDLER, Georg (AUT / Giant)
185 MADRAZO, Angel (ESP / Rural Caja)
196 Owsian, Lukasz (POL / CCC)
And hopefully, Kruijswick and Eale are in my Purist team.
50km gone, all together still
