Road.cc new look discussion thread

Its new, blue, and not instantly off putting; I might get to like it.
Though comments now take up much more room; my scrolling finger might get tired.

argg.. and if you click on the recent comments it takes you to the thread not the comment itself.

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

Not convinced with the turquoise text - looks very pretty but it's a fair bit harder to read on even a large smartphone (note2) compared to the rest of the black on white text.

Site is looking good, but where's the RSS feed link gone?
I'm looking but not seeing it, I know that the feed still works but I'm moving from one reader to another and I can't add Road.cc

pretty good - i like that the forum comments previews (on the right) are longer now.

But do we need the smiley panel, really?

I mostly like it - and the release seems to have been smooth which is to be applauded.

I think the turquoise comment boxes are too light; on my laptop screen they're almost invisible making it look like the poster above the comment was responsible. If you really want that colour you could put a thin darker blue line around the edge of the comment and signature boxes?

I also don't mind the smilies but the HTML code could be hidden away IMO.

Some people on here have said they approve of the like button thingy, but why not have a dislike option as well to get a balanced response.

The new look is growing on me. It's really clean and clear and the blue is a good colour.
Is there any chance that you could add an option to take you back to the top of a page especially on the long posts with loads of responses, something similar to new facility on eBay?
Oh, and get you get a proper spill-chucker, one that speaks English not american? 3

Must say I'm getting used to it now, although when I use full site on the mobile (HTC Desire X) I don't get to see who the latest post was by, only the thread starter's name.

Arrrghhh, feeling far too much pressure now with the 'Like' button! Generally really like the new set up, it's nice and fresh although the home page does all seem to blend into one... Maybe a different background?

Not sure why there is a distinction between tech and reviews as headers, as the tech page has reviews on it too?

Ok I'll be honest , I haven't read all the comments as I'm on my mobile (99% of my browsing) as such I'm not sure how other mobile users feel but I much preferred the old design as it was easier on the eye and easier to navigate .

However balancing the bad , the forums seem more responsive(accident or not it's good) and the like button was a nice addition

As of today I can't see any of the content of the Home page, News, reviews etc. on my iPad although yesterday the new look site looked pretty good.

Help!

One request, if you hover over the 'Forum' link in the navigation bar can it show a drop down of the various forum's available? I generally frequent one or two at most and dislike clicking, being able to hover then choose my forum would speed things up.

Also... no like button for the person opening the thread? What if you really like that comment? 1

If you're taking personal requests, as it seems you are, could you provide a small macchiato coffee when I come to the site first thing in the morning please? 21

Good new look - big improvement on mobile devices.

But! There's this big "Go to: select a section" list box under the header but it has no "Go" button so is basically wasted space (do people really still trust random websites with script execution permission? Seems like a good way to get your browser infected); the reviews section link in the footer gets redirected back to the front page; and the second time you load a page, the article body and comment texts are missing.

I hope they're just teething problems and will be smoothed over soon.

Could you please make the Fantasy Cycling link not open a new window?

Because of the inability to see last post column I mentioned before I've stuck with the m.road.cc version on my phone. However, now, on the news stories, I get all the set up wording every time I open one.

For e.g.: main pic node, carousel number, blah blah blah.

Anyone else?
