The rh+ Logo Cap is a lightweight summery version of the common cycling cap for those temperature high days and holidays when the thermometer turns to sweaty.

The Logo Cap is a breezy item, a fraction of the weight of a standard issue cycle cap. Not that a regular cap is heavy, but well, you know.

Instead of your usual cotton this cap is made from rh+ Icedry Gold 200, a fabric designed for high breathability and quick drying, which should put a stop to that overloaded with sweat and unpleasantly drippy thing you can get with cotton caps when it's sultry.

The Logo Cap scores two hexagons on the rh+ Tech Index, their exclusive system devised to help customers to identify and choose just the right product based on the degree of technical innovation they want. The index ranges from one to four red hexagons with four being the most advanced garments. With only two hexagons the Logo Cap isn't the most technical item in their wardrobe, but then it is just a cycling cap.

The crown of the cap is constructed from five panels, the four side ones are a light enough fabric already but the large central panel is an even more airy mesh that keeps things lighter still and much more ventilated. All the panels are flatlock stitched together so there's no helmet rubbage and the rear of the central panel is elasticated. There's a lot of stretch in the material so it should fit everyone's head comfortably, which is handy as it comes in just the one size.

The peak isn't as flexible as your normal cycling cap and wants to stay flat, but with a bit of massaging it will comply to a more curved profile, it's also usefully the tiniest bit deeper than a standard peak so offers a few more degrees of shade.

It's a subtle looker too as it hasn't been vomited on by team logos, which will please some cyclists, and it comes in two colour choices, with a black or red version to match your bar-tape.

No matter how warm it got the rh+ cap did it's job brilliantly. It kept the noggin noticeably cooler thanks to the light and breathable fabric and its wicking abilities made sure it never ever got heavy, wet and unpleasant with ikky sweat. It made hot sticky rides distinctly more comfortable. But £25, ooof.

Verdict

The rh+ Logo Cap is great for those days when the temperature soars. It's light and airy and a definite improvement in comfort and moisture management over your usual cotton cap. But no matter how good it is it's still a whole bunch of money for a cycling cap.
