Drinks for the bike

Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone has any decent recipes for drinks on the bike. I was given an SiS trial pack, and worked better with the electrolyte drink, but can't afford to regularly buy them so If anyone has any recipes/can point me to some it'd be appreciated.

Cheers in advance

Just checked the SIS stuff and the electrolytes, and Rego recovery do have Aspartame in them (just started reading about it,have you seen how many products its in!Although ive no doubt the majority of our foods have hidden nasties in em)
But the hydros, rego with fruitflow, istonic gels and Rego night DONT have it in.

I love High 5 recovery 4:1. On the bike and after. Not too sweet, enough calories and tasty.

Keith - a whole teaspoon of salt??? Yikes!

I'm happy with blackcurrant squash or plain water. Have tried Torq pink grapefruit and found it very nice. Wouldn't touch SiS as it contains Aspartame.

Gkam, I've made a bottle of that second one, but used tropical cordial in place of the juices, first taste is quite nice, I'll report on bike performance after my ride tomorrow

I normally have bit of orange juice (for the fructose), bit of squash, water, few spoons of sugar (for the glucose) and a touch of salt. I saw it on the bbc website and it seems to work fairly well for me at a dirt cheap price.

Science in Sport all they way for me hydrates and gives me everything i need to keep pumping, use the Rego plus Fruitflow beforehand for faster recovery, the Go Hydro tablets and Go Electrolytes for drinks during (and the odd Go gel)Rego recovery after, yep im an advocate and yes its not cheap (but buying in bulk and using available discounts brings the price down)But i spend a fortune on my bike, clothes, accessories so why not fork out a bit more on aids to my riding. My times and distances have only improved since i started using SIS.

I do 20g glucose and 10g sucrose, with a nuun tab or similar for salt and flavour. You could reduce the sugar slightly and sub the tablet for ribena or another squash and bung in half a teaspoon of salt if you wanted to make it even cheaper.
Oh, this is for a 700g bottle.

1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoon of honey
1 litre of water
3 cups of coconut milk

=======================

1 teaspoon of salt
1 whole squeezed orange (or fresh orange juice)
1 litre of water
1/4 cup of lime juice
1/4 cup of lemon juice

There are two for you to try, I can't remember where I found them years ago, but always start with the salt 4

White wine and Campari - a bicicletta, very apt for the start of the giro too

You sod, I'm sat at my desk here like one of Pavlov's dogs thinking about those! I've not had one in ages.

The better half always has bottles of prosecco in the fridge (no need for soda then) so I reckon I'll liberate one of those after picking up some Campari on the way home.

Any flavour will do, but anything with honey sounds good. I don't like hi5 stuff, I tried them but there's not enough flavour for me in them.
