Bike Fitting

After reading a couple of articles recently I'm seriously considering getting a proper bike fit done.

I'm entirely sure I'm not set up properly (even though it *generally* feels right to me), and hope it would also prevent a niggling knee ache I get occasionally.

Can anyone recommend a place to get one in the Surrey or London area?

What should I reasonably expect to pay?

Thanks in advance!

I had a dual camerea BG Fit done with Jimmy at Sigma Sport last July. At the time I was working at another bike shop near by, and had the fit done more out of curiousity than anything else, as I had thought that paying that much for a fit was madness.
Well... the strangest thing about it is that there weren't that many changes made, and none of them were what I would call dramatic; however it made a significant difference to my comfort, and I immediately felt more powerful on the bike.

I would highly recommend Jimmy, but also Luke at the Specialized Concept Store over the river in Kingston (part of the Sigma company)

I had my on the bike fit £105 at Cyle Ops Tonbridge www.cycle-ops.co.uk/info/cyclefit_at_cycleops.php and never looked back.
A friend of mine had his bike fit at Sigma and said they were brilliant

I had one done a couple of weeks ago at Cadence Performance (Crystal Palace) well worth the money IMO - I'd originally signed up for the full works Retul fit, but having looked at me on the bike, the fitter told me not that actually the Retul would be no more helpful (for my particular issues) than a standard fit, which saved me 50 quid. Took a good 2-2.5hours and covered everything - seat, cleats, body flexibility, etc. Much more comfortable on the bike since.

£100 for a personalised fit like I had, £150 if you want / need Retul.

They also have nice coffee / cakes!

Langdale Lightweights,Mapperley,Nottingham,Mick Green the owner, and Nottingham Iron Man,has people coming from all over for his bike fits,I was in last week and he had a lady in from Newcastle for 2 bike fits.Personally I have 3 bikes all fitted to me by Mick, the first was an alluminium Langdale built for me on 72 inch Fixed wheel, the next was my Orbea Ordu TT machine, again fitted to me,and since riding it I beat my Vet standard at 10 and 25 miles, but I never claim, the last is an Orbea onix, fitted to me,and again it fits like a glove,if you can afford to go down the bike fit road it is worth it.Foxy 3

I think £120 - £180 is likely to be the average, especially in the South East. I recently had a bike fit in and independent shop in Cirencester. They charged £80 and like @egb my knee is now so much better. They're happy for me to go back as many times as I need to get things right so the value is incredibly good.

cool thanks for the feedback everyone.

Sounds like it is good value then. Sigma Sport are probably the closest to me, they quoted £200 for 2.5hrs. It includes a 20 point physical assessment and video analysis.

I might shop around on prices (as @egb paid only £80!) though I have no doubt Sigma are professional and well versed in providing an excellent service for money.

Bespoke Cycling at Farringdon fitted me a few years back for about £120 plus bits (new stem). Made me feel at home, used the Retul system, and improved my commute to work by several mph.
And if you decide to splurge on a Parlee, it's refundable. Or it was.

Cadence in Crystal Palace does it too - I've been thinking about doing a fitting for ages now, same reason as you: a niggling knee problem. I'll sort it out in time for Spring.
I've heard they do different levels of fit - the top level being one where they attach sensors all over you and do motion capture. Awesome.

I saw Guiseppe from velo solutions, he comes from Italy once a month, he has an amazing reputation and I wasn't disappointed.

I'm paying £110 for a 2-hour session, booked in for Friday. Nowhere near London, but I think you're spoilt for choice down there to be honest. Condor, Sigma Sport, I think Mosquito as well.

I paid a mere £80 for a fully personalised fit, which will be refunded if I buy a new bike from them (BW Cycling in Bristol (sadly nowhere near you). Two hours with a pro-cyclist. It resolved my niggling knee issues on the bike and made my ride a lot more comfortable. I'd recommend it.

Defiantly a good idea, esp if your getting a few niggles etc. the bike science place I went to charged £180 but now having had one I reckon it was money well spent.

Don't know about Surrey/London village as I don't live round there but isn't Sigma Sport in Kingston. Would bet they would do it and well.
