Abingdon Spring Cycle Festival
Abingdon Spring Cycle Festival – rides for all levels! There will be easy starting at 2 miles at dog walking pace! Other rides include easy 10 and 27 mile routes, with no major hills and on very quiet roads. You will be lead by an experienced cyclist, and there will be someone at the back to check everyone is OK, and help fix puncture if required. The group will ride at the pace of the slowest rider, and will wait at junctions so no one gets left behind. Any bike is suitable, but check that it is in good working order and that the bike has the saddle and handlebars at the right height. There will be cake supplied, but we would recommend bringing water and some snacks, especially for the 27 mile route. On the 27 mile route there is a refreshment stop at Longworth Village Hall. For more advanced cyclists there is a 50 mile Audax ride, and a fast road training ride with Zappis Cycling Club. There will also be grass track racing, cycling info, a truck parked up so cyclist can really see what a truck driver see, and more. Abingdon Freewheeling was started in 2010 after the first Spring Cycle Festival to bring local cyclists together. It is a friendly and very informal club, offering a wide variety of rides from beginners, through to more advanced rides for experienced cyclists. There are road rides and mountain bike rides. See our website or facebook for further information. www.abingdonfreewheeling.org.uk
