Radio Shack to debut at Australia's Tour Down Under

Lance Armstrong this week confirmed that his new Radio Shack team will make their eagerly awaited road racing debut in Australia’s Tour Down Under from January 17-24.

The 37-year-old Armstrong announced the formation of Team Radio Shack in July and will compete as a cyclist, runner and triathlete in events around the world, including the 2010 Tour de France.

Having recently been on two city rides with cycle fans in Glasgow and Dublin, thanks to announcing them on free social networking site Twitter, it will be back to serious business in the new year.

Armstrong, who earlier this week said he expected the British-funded Team Sky to be a major force in cycling, revealed the riders were excited to travel to Australia as the course was not too tough and the race was run efficiently.

The seven-time Tour de France winner is recruiting a new team for the 2010 Tour after coming out of retirement to ride for Astana in this year's race, finishing third after a battle with team-mate Alberto Contador, who took overall honours in Paris.
