Kristin Armstrong Felt DAKristin Armstrong's Olympic time trial bike stolen
Exergy TWENTY12 have today reported that Kristin Armstrong's bikes have been stolen in transit back from the Eurobike show.
We saw Kristin's gold-medal-winning Felt DA time trial bike when we were over in Germany (our Dave Arthur snapped the pic of it above) but that bike, and a Felt F1 road bike that was also used at the Olympics, went missing on the way back to the US and only empty boxes were delivered to Armstrong's house in Boise, Idaho.
The Exergy TWENTY12 website reports that the bikes left Germany on September 7th, departing Bremen Germany to Frankfurt Germany then from Frankfurt to Atlanta and the final leg Atlanta to Boise. It's not clear at what point the bikes were removed from the boxes although an investigation is ongoing.
"The bikes mean so much to me. My TT bike is a symbol of all the hard work that has been put in to this journey," said Armstrong. "It is sad to think that somebody out there has taken this away from me and my family."

As arowland above asks which courier, come on lets find out then name em and shame em.
And at what point did someone pick up an empty box, think, "That doesn't feel like it has a bike inside," and instead of raising the alarm decided they couldn't be bothered and delivered two empty boxes instead?
Which courier was it? Remind me not to use them in future.

With the shipment tracking history available it will be possible to identify every employee who was on shift at each of the transit points, so it should be possible to track down the thief.

unfortunately for the boxes to have been opened and resealed, this has been done at some point during the shipping process at one of the stop points - most likely by a switched on to bike kit employee! I work in the industry so can see where it could potentially occur.
If reliable firms have been used they should all be able to review their end of each leg and perhaps figure when it occurred, might even have some CCTV, if it was airfreight then they definitely will.
Hope they catch the scummy little bugger
and taken out of the boxes then seal the boxes up again ... barstewards
