womens road bike help needed

Hi, hope somebody out there can help me with a few suggestions looking for a female fit road bike preferably carbon for my friend. Budget under 2.5K.

I agree that the first step should be to get measured-up. My local bike fitter did this for approx. £60, and I now have a set of geometry diagrams & measurements that I can use to compare against possible bikes.

Through this process I came to the conclusion that there wasn't a road bike out there to fit me. (I have short arms in relation to my height, or "t-rex arms" as the said bike fitter described them, in contrast to his own "gorilla arms". Hmm..) So I went for a custom ti frame (direct from XACD.com @ $800usd inc. shipping.)
Riding a bike that fits has totally changed my riding speed and comfort, and I wouldn't look back.

When I looked for a female fit road bike I discovered that the frame geometry was identical to the male! Despite lots of sales cr*p about specially designed etc. The difference was the saddle, handlebar extension and some pink paint....

'Tis true. Maybe a good first step would be to get measuring or fitting session and use that as a guide to which frame would be the best fit. It may turn out to be female-specific or not. Plus you'll be able to consider bar, saddle and stem options as part of the purchase rather than changing them later to get the best fit.

Get her to have a look at the Cube bikes or Canyon's, i looked around for months trying to find a womens specific road bike, that wasnt garish, my budget was only around the £1k mark tho.

I searched every site and read endless reviews and found the Cubes were the best value for money for a womens specfic one, had excellent reviews and were covered in flowers or pink!

I ended up geting a Canyon Roadlite, It's not a womens specific but i cant fault it extremely comfortable and the perfect positioning system that they have to make sure that the bike is the right size for you worked a dream for me! I just threw a womens saddle on, which you can swap for when you order. You can get a full carbon with all the trimmings for under £2k! Good value for money as your buying direct from the manufacturer.

Hi - My wife bought a GIANT Avail Advanced size XS this year and it is bang on. Carbon fibre and Ultegra equipped and tips the scales at 7.4kg - priced at £2.5k it is superb - she really likes it and the colours are not "girly" 1

Thanks for the suggestions so far, But and this is a huge but (no pun intended) having looked on various sights I find myself agreeing with women who say it is difficult to join the cycling fraternity, so many hide the female specific bikes, ie open one page to open another to another before you see anything, don't/won't state wieghts of their m/c's. Which leads to another question if the bike is smaller how come it weighs more?!

A quick google turned this up, which indicates that Specialized, Giant, Orbea would be good places to start.

The budget is interesting, because from what i can see, the serious kit is thin on the ground in the female market, but bike radar reports that specialized will be offering an S-Works Ruby for next year, so a spesh concept store would likely be great starting point to see what £2.5k will buy.
